Nach der mehr oder weniger anstrengenden Wandertour, dachten wir uns ein Ort, der für seine heißen Quellen und Thermalbäder bekannt ist, ist genau das Richtige für unsere weitere Reise. Jedoch bereits am ersten Abend waren wir geschockt wie touristisch das kleine Städtchen Baños ist. Nicht nur die Thermalbäder, sondern auch die Lage direkt am aktiven Vulkan Tungurahua und das ganzjährig angenehme Klima von 25 °C durch die Höhe von 1.820m und die Nähe zum Amazonasbecken zeichnen Baños aus.

Alles Gründe, warum hier schon seit Jahren eine Menge Touristen unterwegs sind und jeder Zweite auf jeden Fall KEIN Ecuadorianer ist. Wir haben uns davon trotzdem nicht abschrecken lassen und ein paar Tage dort verbracht. Zwei Mal sind wir in die heißen Quellen gegangen, wobei heiß hier wortwörtlich genommen werden kann. Das Bad hatte so ungefähr 42°C. Außerdem haben wir eine kleine Radtour entlang der Wasserfallstraße unternommen, die wir mit einer Canopy-Fahrt krönten. Canopy, das ist, wenn man an ein Seil gehängt über eine Schlucht oder ein Tal entlang “fliegt”. Für alle, die sich das noch nicht vorstellen können, schaut einfach kurz mein Video an.

All characteristics for that many tourists have been here for years and every second person in town is definitely NOT Ecuadorian. Despite the touristy, we still spent a few days there. Twice we went to the hot springs, where hot can be taken literally. The bathroom was just about 42 ° C. In addition, we have taken a bicycle ride along the waterfall road and crowned it with a canopy tour. Canopy, is when you hang on a rope "flying" over a ravine or valley.
