Cumpleaños de Jakob

Montevideo.

Anlässlich des Geburtstages von Jakob habe ich die letzten 4 Tage im Regenwalddorf Montevideo verbracht. Montevideo hat eine interessante Geschichte: früher haben die Menschen dort nur Coca angebaut, aber nachdem der Dorfälteste der Meinung war, dass der Coca-Anbau dem Dorf nachhaltig schadet, haben sie umgesattelt. Im Moment hat jede Familie eine Chacra mit Kühen und tagtäglich wird dort Quesito Montevideo, also Käse ähnlich dem Feta, hergestellt. Davon kann die Dorfgemeinschaft leben und es geht ihnen besser als mit dem Coca-Anbau.

Jakob.

Das Dorf ist nur über eine Stunde Jeep-Fahrt und 2 Stunden Fußweg zu erreichen und umso erstaunlicher ist es, dort anzukommen und die sehr gut funktionierende Infrastruktur zu sehen. Es gibt ein Wasserkraftwerk mit dem das Dorf mit Strom versorgt wird und jeden Samstag werden große Menge Käse über Mulas und Autos nach Tingo Maria und sogar bis teilweise nach Lima zum Verkauf transportiert.

Außerdem wurde gerade eine große Schreinerei gebaut, die in Zukunft für die Menschen dort eine weitere Einkommensquelle darstellen soll. In Montevideo sind verschiedene NGOs tätig, unter anderem auch meine Organisation ecoselva mit momentan Jakob und Daniel als Freiwillige.

In Montevideo habe ich in der Schule hospitiert, wir haben bei der Käseverpackung und der Herstellung von Manjar (Karamellcreme) geholfen und am Samstag, den Geburtstag von Jakob, eine Wanderung über Feld und durch Fluss gemacht um den Wappenvogel Perus, den Gallito zu sehen. Das wurde gleich mit einer Baderunde im eisigen Regenwaldfluss verbunden. Abends wurden dann die vier Hähne verspeist, die Jakob von der Gemeinschaft zum Geburtstag bekommen hatte und wir saßen noch bis nachts am Lagerfeuer. Eine paar schöne Tage in einer wunderbaren Dorfgemeinschaft.

On the occasion of the birthday of Jakob, I've spent the last 4 days in the rainforest village Montevideo. Montevideo has an interesting history: in the past the people have only grown coca but after the village chief was of the opinion that the coca-growing lasting harm, they have changing seats. At the moment, every family has one Chacra with cows and every day they produce their Quesito Montevideo, a kind of cheese similar to feta. The community lives off the cheese production and they are better off than with 
                                           the growing coca.

Gallito.

The village is only accessible over an hour jeep ride and 2 hours walk. Therefor it is astonishing to see the very well-functioning infrastructure. There is a hydroelectric power plant which provides energy for the whole village and every Saturday they transport a great quantity of cheese on mules and cars to Tingo Maria and even sometimes to Lima for sale. In Montevideo several NGOs are active, including my organization ecoselva currently with Jacob and Daniel as volunteers. In Montevideo I visited the school, we helped in the cheese packaging and manufacturing Manjar (crème caramel) and on Saturday, the anniversary of Jacob, we made a big walk across the fields and through a river to see the national bird of Peru, the Gallito. The walk was connected to a lap swim in the icy rain forest river. In the evening we had a big feast with the four valves Jakob had received from the community for his birthday and sat at night around the campfire. A few days off in a wonderful community.
